She died unexpectedly in 2004. During a thirty – career she released a prodigious amount of music, but it is 1972’s “Deqise neyre tebarabire” – to mean “I was asleep for a while but I am now conscious” song that is the work for which she will be best remembered, long established as one of Eritrea’s most popular singers. Master of the Krar, In her early teens she joined different theater and performance group before moving to Addis Abeba late 1968.
